Take a glimpse into the playful imagination of David Cannon as he presents his version of the thoughts, feelings and emotions we all have in common. His body of work titled, "Bridges Between Us" provides an unlikely sense of the human spirit within subjects that wouldn't generally be thought of in this way. These scenes range from poignant and touching to laugh out loud funny. David has a sunny disposition which clearly bleeds into his art. A light hearted presence and theme of hope is evident throughout the collection. His twisting of ideas combined with his self taught painting styles have led to a body of work that really stands apart.
David has been artistically inclined since toddlerhood, but he didn't start painting until age 28. When asked why he chose to focus his creative efforts into painting he had this to say, "Every artist has their reasons for expressing themselves in the mediums they choose. Long before I ever picked up a brush, I was captivated by what can be accomplished in a painting." He goes on to talk about the multitude of options in the manipulation of paint as it is laid on to a surface and the seemingly limitless supply of colors that can mixed and balanced throughout the painting. "Now add light and shadow as well as composition and negative space. These are some of the elements that make up the puzzles that I feel compelled to solve over and again."
